Our Story
Pride & Passion
Shepwok Angus
Nestled on Lucky Bay Farms in the picturesque Esperance district of Western Australia, Shepwok Angus is our pride and passion. Named after the nearby world-famous beach “Lucky Bay”, with its stunning turquoise waters and pristine white sand, the property enjoys an average annual rainfall of 700mm. Situated on sandplain country, these conditions make the land highly productive yet unforgiving, highlighting any minor structural flaws in cattle. This natural selection pressure forms the foundation of our breeding program, ensuring the herd is sound, durable, and tailored to thrive in demanding environments.
At Shepwok Angus, we focus on breeding cattle that excel under real-world conditions. The program integrates a 1000-head commercial herd with a large-scale cropping operation, requiring cattle to perform with minimal intervention. This integration fosters adaptability, productivity and hardiness - key traits that define the Shepwok Angus herd.
In 2018, We decided to take our breeding vision to the next level by establishing a nucleus herd to refine and enhance specific genetic traits. The program prioritises the development of an exceptional female herd with a strong emphasis on phenotype, carcass quality, and structural soundness - especially in feet. These efforts ensure consistency across generations and deliver cattle with superior genetics, all while preserving the "type" that embodies structural
integrity and functionality.
In 2024, the family made a significant step forward in our breeding program by purchasing the sale-topping bull, Millah Murrah UltraJet U356 (NMM23U356), at the Millah Murrah 36th Annual Bull Sale for $140,000. This investment highlights the dedication to continually enhancing the genetic potential of the herd. The integration of UltraJet U356 into the breeding program represents our commitment to maintaining Shepwok Angus as a benchmark for quality and to complement the Millah Murrah bulls we purchased in 2023; being Sunstruck S207 (NMM21S207) and Tectonic T69 (NMM22T69).
Whether it’s the natural beauty of Esperance or the farming operation, we pride our enterprise on passion, innovation, and resilience. As we continue to refine our program and breed for the future, the stud remains dedicated to producing cattle that set the standard for excellence in the harshest of environments.
